Soft Ground Soccer Shoes

nike-mercurial-vapor-v-sg-bottomSoft Ground soccer shoes are reserved for the most plush field conditions or, for most of us, wet, rainy days with atrocious field conditions. Those field conditions that we ALL love to play games on… As opposed to their brethren the soccer cleat, soft ground shoes have only six studs on the bottom as opposed to the typical twelve or thirteen.  The reasoning behind this is that the studs will be able to penetrate the field providing traction. With only six studs, the mud and dirt would not be able to stick to the bottom of the shoe making it into an ice skate.

For most players, soft ground shoes should not be worn as a primary shoe. In fact, we would recommend that most players should invest in a turf shoe before buying a soft ground shoe. Essentially, this should be your third pair of shoes in your bag. Wearing this shoe as your primary shoe on hard, dry fields will result in strained ankle, knees and backs. With only six points of pressure to disperse your body weight, this amounts to enormous stress.
