Turf Shoes

diadora-turf-soleTurf shoes are mainly designed for play on artificial turf surfaces or hard, dry grass. Their main defining feature is the small, numerous nubs on the bottom of the shoe. For players experiencing back, knee or ankle pain during play, a turf shoe can provide additional support and relief by dispersing pressure over the entire foot. This would be compared to a traditional soccer cleat that has thirteen studs acting as pressure points on the bottom of the feet. Turfs are virtually useless on a wet field as the grass will stick inside the nubs providing no traction whatsoever and will function more like an ice skate than a soccer boot.

Tip: Most indoor facilities will not allow players to wear turf shoes on an indoor carpet due to potential injury. The nubs on the sole of the shoe provides a “velcro-like” adhesion to the surface and increases potential injury. You are best served by an indoor shoe or, perhaps, consider a running shoe.
